I just thought of some possible symbolism:

Arizona Diamondbacks, owned by Jerry Colangelo, who also owns the Phoenix SUNS.

First anthrax case at a newspaper called The SUN.

Someone at FR told me that the Sun is important symbolically in Islam.

Oh, I almost forgot. I've seen a nuclear explosion referred to as a 'second SUN'.
