Two facts here. Defense officials suspect McVeigh was an Iraqi agent, and there is an allegation floating around that McVeigh had a list of Iraqi telephone numbers. Anyone have the Fox link(s)?

The news item is an excerpt from the US News & World Report column "Washington Whispers" dated 10/29/01 written by the editor PAUL BEDARD. The news excerpt is under the paragraph heading "McVeigh's ghost" in the column whose title is "Pentagon slows Clinton's bid for women in combat".

I spoke directly today by phone with Paul Bedard and he gave me permission to write that the top official at the Pentagon who is making the allegations about McVeigh connections to Iraq is the Assistant Secretary of Defense, Mr. Wolfowitz, the number two man at the Pentagon under the Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld.

Mr. Bedard also broke his information today at 6:20 am EST on the show "Fox and Friends".

I asked Bedard to describe his statments on Fox and Friends and he said his remarks on the program were essentially the same as what he wrote for his column "Washington Whispers" except for the vital revealing that Wolfowitz was the top Pentagon official. I also went over the assertion that there had been a coverup and Bedard also attributed that to the opinion of Wolfowitz as well. Bedard's description was close to what my friend gave me when he saw the program early today.

I learned of Bedard's appearance early today from a friend in California who saw the broadcast at 3:20 am EST. I then called Bedard to check out what he said on the program and he told me how to find the paragraph in his column Washington Whispers.

I do not have a link for the Fox and Friends program Bedard appeared on. I do not beleive they sale transcripts and I searched the Fox web sites for transcripts or how to get transcripts. It is possible I believe to buy a video of the program from a news service for around $50.

Fox and Friends airs from 6-9 am EST Monday through Friday on the Fox News Channel.
