I loved the way he stressed that gov't employee broke federal law.

This press conference is crazy. They want to know why they are not allowed to go on special opps missions. Rumsfield's answer is good, they are dropping in from planes. He is getting mad, as he should. I repeat, the press at this conference are crazy, they keep asking questions which if answered will, not could, but will, endanger our troops.

Good for him. The press acts like it's fun and games but it is real death for our military.

Didn't you just love the dimwit question: "But, but, but,,, Mr. Secretary, how can you maintain your credibility if you refuse to answer questions".
As if. As if HE CARES.
Thank God the Adults are in charge.

Yeah, one reporter proposed a press pool accompanying our special forces jumping out of C-130's.
If I were Rumsfeld, my response would have been, "Sure, we'll fit you with a 200 pound back pack and let you run 3 miles to the operations zone. But we're not going to provide fire cover for you since this is a military operation. And, our forces will not risk their lives getting you back safely. Now, do you still want to go?"

Probably the Pentagon leakers are holdovers from the Clinton administration who are trying to cause trouble for Rumsfeld.
Sickos.
To: Dems_R_Losers
I just heard Mr Rumsfeld.
It is time that they arrest the leaker and the reporter.
The leaker should be tried for treason and shot!
The reporter should go to jail as well as his editor, publisher, and owner of the newspaper or tv station. They should have to pay the costs of the next 6 big special ops! The only way they can be released from jail is to go on a special ops to be used as a dumb bomb distraction!
To: Dems_R_Losers
Rumsfeld needs to find one of the Pentagon leakers, put him on public trial and when convicted, give them twenty years at hard labor (ten hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year)...then hold a press conference.
To: Dems_R_Losers
"Look",Rumsfeld says,{to paraphrase], "The usual parameters for press conferences [and the information provided therein] in previous wars does not apply to this war.
American lives in these secret operations are at risk to the extent they
are covert .
We want to mystify the Taliban as to what is going on.
Going in in the cover of night precludes a reporter [as one reporter requested ] to go in with them.
One reporter asked if any one Taliban was captured and brought back.
"Why should I answer that question," Rumsfeld ,now showing some anger,replied-"If I told you, then the Taliban would know too", but the answer is no"----[you stupid jerk you, to himself ] ....
To: Dems_R_Losers
You have to remember that, since 1992, these bozos in the press have not had to deal with people dedicated to preserving American lives and American liberty!
They're like children who have been accustomed to having their way with the babysitter and, suddenly, the parents show up.
On top of that, the schools that trained them didn't teach them the great traditions of a free press--that you don't work for the enemy just because your country allows you First Amendment rights.

Reporters should be allowed to accompany the troops. These should be the qualifications: Airborne badge. Qualified on M-16 rifle. Passed armed forces PT test. Not ashamed to wear American flag. Will not publish any information that would place American soldiers at risk. Anyone in the press corps qualified??

Did anyone hear what Rummy said about bombing, or lack thereof, during "holy month" of Rammadan(sp?)?

Is there any central place where transcripts of these news conferences are posted? This stuff sounds over the top even for OUR media.

How many Muslims work at the Pentagon and White House and how carefully are they being monitored? Or would that not be politically correct even now?

"Our goal is not to demystify things for the other side...it is it disrupt, it is to frighten, and it is to destroy our enemies." If this is the case why did the Pentagon/DOD release videotape footage of the raid?
To: Dems_R_Losers
I think the "leakers" should be encourged to accompany our troops on special forces missions. I doubt if there would be future leaks.

Rumsfeld is the best. It's always fascinating to listen to his press conferences. He's the kind of guy I'd like to work for if I had a job in the military.
