It was like the plane was breathing fire. It was horrible, horrible.”

Just a little introductory fire. More later...in hell.

I see more of President Bush's subtlety when he (former Texas RANGER's owner) hands the Japanese guy a baseball glove; meanwhile the RANGERS are kicking the Taliban where it hurts! Truly I find this a wonderful subtle message!

You know, there was a reason the Specter`s progenitor the AC-47 'Spooky' was called 'Puff the Magic Dragon!'

This is not new, Rangers have done this since their inseption. They go in, alone, and unsupported in the middle of hell it's self, and they take the mission.

These brave men are doing just that while we are eating, and sleeping, and working. Their job is to kill people and break things. But, there is something beyond that, there is the message to the enemy..."we will kill you anytime we want, and we will be there FOREVER!" We will kill you slowly, or we will kill you quickly....the speed depends on OUR schedule, you are just meat for the grinder. You can't beat Rangers. If you kill the first force, there will be the next, and the next...until we win, and we WILL win.

Note to the enemy: There is no way that you can win this fight. "Death from the Sky"...."You Mess With The Best, You Die Like The Rest!" I'll worn you, for the last time, those words mean something to a Ranger. They are his creed, his life's blood, they are his comfort, and they are his message from the People he loves, and defends. You won't find fear on those faces, you'll find resolve, and you'll find courage. Just like the flag of our country. The colors may fade, but they don't RUN! You asked for this war, and you are going to get a good one. You have thrown us into a war that we must win. When Americans MUST win, we do. You want to kill me and my family, I will kill you first. You've drawn down on the wrong folks.

How do I know about Ranger Units? I was in one.

Still a Ranger...........101...........VietNam........I want to go again. Not because it was fun, cause it wasn't. Because my country needs me. I've already tried, no way now.

As an Ancient, I'd like to point out that the Moderators are doing a DAMN fine job. I should know - I've just about seen it all on FR. ;-)

I liked that thread-lockdown business I saw a while ago - the one where you lock the thread down and direct the post to the original. Still a lot of work.

You guys (and gals) are the best! :-)

The target was Baba Sahib, a village of mud huts on a low hilltop about five miles from the city centre. It is the base of a small Taliban garrison set up to guard a home owned by the Taliban's spiritual leader, Mullah Omar. The houses have mud walls and straw roofs... But the village holds a special place in the psyche of the Afghans. It and the surrounding mountains were a stronghold of the anti-Russian forces during the Eighties.

If, as analysts believe, the raid was a 'dry-run' for future operations, this would have been vital to demonstrate that US forces can take and secure territory inside Afghanistan.

Psychologically significant first ground strike.

I'm not a fan of this paper by any stretch, but they got the story right.

In times of war, ALWAYS read the London papers for the full story. Always.

does anybody else think that China probably has a lot of intelligence in the region,...

No one with any intelligence at all would be in the region, and no one will be there long. -grin-

Sorry , been away for a bit and missed that you had responded to me.
Not totally comfortable with the new format.

With respect to your question, I think the Taliban Calvary is made up of Crew Cab Toyota 4x4's!

Saw somewhere that Osama had bought 1800 of them for the Taliban army!
