Those in power were not the full 80 million Germans. Fact is Jews were Germans too so seperating their number is silly.

This assumes that the entire German population had no conscience. It's nice to pretend that evil is pure and absolutely corruptive of everyone but that view is a bit too naiive for me.

Secondly the stupid example of the "conservative" teaching the pacifist a lesson is a lesson in one thing alone: cruel and unprovoked violence against somebody to "teach them a lesson" is evil itself.

Next time your kid disobeys you, try taking his hand and putting it on a hot stove as a means to "teach him a lesson."

The lesson he will have learned is that you are a cruel person and deserve no respect. When he gets old enough he will defy you openly.

The problem would eventually be solved. As the human skull is designed to withstand only so much physical trauma before it collapses and exposes the brain to possible physical damage which in turn would lead to the eventaul death of the person being afflicted.

The argument calling up the ghost of Bull Halsey is a false straw man, in that it in no way parallels the circumstance we have been faced with, namely that Bull Halsey was a petty tyrant wannabe violating the civil rights of blacks under the authority of law. The terrorist murderers violated all norms of civilized behavior and civility by deliberately attacking innocent un-armed civilians.

To try and equate the actions of these terrorists with the actions of those opposing the civil rights movement of the 50's is disingenuous and betrays a complete disregard of historical facts and the political motivations of the parties involved.
