Pakistan blocked funds on September 26. (See Sept 26, NYTimes, and the Bush list of Muslim charities on an international hit list.) Two days later it was announced that the US had followed suit (see NPR for September 29 and story on charities and Al-Rashid). On October 4 Al-Rashid announced that it was going to contest the Administration's decision in a U.S. court of law. I'm sure that much of this information is available on HotBot or Google.

RightlySo: If you want a real scoop try and access the information that was obtained by the German and Austrian police in 1995 relevant to the Third World Relief organization that operated from Vienna. The TWR was run by a Sudanese with ties to Bin Ladin, and the two had been involved in running weapons from Afghanistan/Pakistan through Khartoum to Croatia (where Croatian intelligence had been bought off). From there the materiel was shipped to Muslim Bosnia to the Muwafaq Brigade which was financed by a number of Middle East nations, Iran and Saudi Arabia included (believe it or not). This was the most scandalous aspect of the war in Bosnia and involved the Muslim leaders of Bosnia-Herzogevina and numerous Balkan (and even Turkish) factotums. The scandal was discussed only one in US newspapers (in the NY Times in early 1996), but the TWR agency continued to operate in support of the Muslim crazies until Bin Ladin finally left Sudan in 1996. The FBI probably has the material that the Krauts uncovered, but the issue has been allowed to die. Unfortunately.
