BUMP! I thought that the locals were burning the MRE's! Hope they like pop tarts! UGH!

Oh, my! I hope no one gets hit in the head with one of these[/sarcasm].
Doesn't it take a great nation to be more concerned about the people of another country than their own government is? The Taliban is more than happy to let their subjects starve to death. Some of the TeeVee reporters have been more concerned with the civilians of Afghanistan getting bonked by a food package than by the thousands of Americans pulverized and incinerated by hijacked commericial jetliners filled with more innocent civilians, including THE CHILDREN. I just don't get it....

I suppose a strafing run to follow would be considered hunting over a baited field....

Thanks so much for posting this. I had read that the people were burning the food because they said they'd rather starve then eat food we sent. I was beginning to think it was a terrible waste of resources when so many in the world are hungry. This disproves the rumor.
I'm so glad these people were able to get to the food.

Fox news reported that one of the old guys said after tasing the lentil stew inside, "We don't like this, we need beans and flour to make bread" and then proceeded to feed a few of the containers to his jackass.

Does anyone know where there is a closeup of the MRE packaging? I'd like to see what they say. What message(s) do the convey?

Maybe he'll like the "taste" of starvation, better. Sheesh.
We should make sure the Red Cross site gets a few thousand of these pictures forwarded to them. That way they can stop harping about how "nothing" is reaching the Afghan people and how the food has to be brought in "by truck" to reach the needy.
Supposedly, one-fifth of all land mines are located in Afghanistan...I wonder just where the Red Cross is planning on driving these trucks? Ugh.

Actually, according to al-Jazira, Afghanis were collecting and burning the rations because 1) they suspected that they were contaminated by pork, and 2) the US is bombing civilian villages. That can't be dismissed as al-Jazira propaganda, either (they're actually more objective than a lot of US stations)
