One reason the government might not respond to this is because they are in the middle of their own massive investigation and are trying to net as many of these thugs as possible. If that is indeed the case, they are going to do their best not to give this independent investigation any credibility which is exactly what is apparently happening. The Feds are not completely asleep at the switch, they are just trying to work within the restrictive laws of the land, which makes it so easy for criminals to get off. These thugs are probably citizens by now and it's not nearly as easy to deal with them as it is with foreign nationals. I'm sure with recent events they are being pressed to bring any existing investigation to a close.

Of course, it may also be absolutely nothing as suggested by others on this thread as well as yesterday's thread.

Maybe someone could send an anonymous letter accusing them of dealing drugs (which is a legally accepted procedure). Watch our GOV swing into action. Watch as phones are tapped. Watch as warrants are obtained *in the blink of an eye*. Watch as stakeouts are performed into the night. Watch as trash is searched and background checks performed.

But no, they are worth more "protections" than are available to the run of the mill US Citizen. While our law enforcement officials were concentrating on protecting the USA from unapproved plants and powder, terrorists with bombs and anthrax are allowed to run free, and take flying lessons that teach only how to turn a jet, because there are no "procedures" to fully investigate.
