. The targetting of this aircraft dump is basically that it looks good on the strike photos and also was probably targetted by a pilot/crew looking for targets of opportunity.

That was not a target of opportunity. Either a B-1B or B2 (most likely a B-1B) axis of attack N-S. The bomb train and sequence is evident. The bombs used were dumb, therefore the B-1B likely.

Concur with your assessment. The bomb-train is evident extending near to the target. I should have looked more closely at the surrounding area. Similar bomb-trains images were released on B-52H and B-1B airfield strikes over Yugoslavia.

The DoD has released the strike footage of this attack on Herat. The first two weapons dropped on the transport aircraft and the the top of the line of aircraft were laser guided weapons. Footage ties in with F-14 Tomcat designator as on the Taliban aircraft at Kandahar. No further footage has been released, so the target must have been revisited at some time.
