we trust them to fly the airplane-- we can trust them with pistols

"Under the measure, airlines and pilots would make the decision whether to put weapons in the cockpit" Good, we can fly where we feel safest! Should get interesting.

You want me to fly on your airplanes, do the right thing. More guns = Safer flights.

Yes many are ex-military. This would be one way to increase passenger security. Besides the possible terrorists they are now spawning copycat crimes by other nutjobs and criminals etc.

I would rather have the airline pilot have the last shot from his gun than have the fighter pilot have the last shot from his missle launcher.

I'd love to see the looks on the faces at the VPC offices right about now. Probably looks like a big group lemon-suck.

Wow! They actually passed a bill that would allow some Americans to keep and bear arms?

Where in the Constitution is the federal government given the authority to determine who can and cannot carry a firearm? If the Feds have this authority, when did they get it?

Bump on that one!

"...Arm the Pilot. The battle is not going to require any long shots and a small revolver would be a good choice. It would hold off the attackers long enough for him to disable his aircraft. If the attackers claimed the package they were holding was a bomb, I'd shoot out the door glass and hope the door would be ripped out and the hijacker and his package would be sucked out. And hey, if I got sucked out with him, I'd try to fly myself to the hijacker, look in his face and laugh at him all the way to the ground..."-John Burnett (a DC-10 Captain and a Cop)

Senate by voice vote passes admendment to bill for Pilots to carry firearmsCan they carry other things?
To: All
Great news. How can I find out who voted for and who voted against this?
To: Dane
I smell a rat. The post says that the amendment "authorizes" the FAA to permit pilots to carry guns. Doesn't this seem to mean that the decision to carry is being left to the FAA? WELL, PILOTS HAVE TOLD ME THAT THE FAA IS THE ENTITY KEEPING ANY WEAPONS OUT OF THEIR HANDS NOW.
We must have the full and exact text of the amendment posted.
