ABC Attacks Bush: "Doesn't want people to know"
ABC Nightly News ^ | 10-10-01 | Peter Jennings

Posted on 10/10/2001 5:52:06 PM PDT by Amerigomag

Peter Jennings opened the west coast edition of ABC's evening news broadcast with a short, pseudo news segment attacking the Bush adminstration's policy of media control during the current conflict in Afghanistan.

Jennings asked his whitehouse correspondent to confirm that the media was being restricted in the conflict because Bush "didn't want the people to know". The correspondent cofirmed the allegation by repeating the phrase.

Do the terrorist tell the media what they are up to? Why should we?

And who, exactly, is best helped by having ALL the information concerning the progress in prosecuting and co-ordinating the war effort made freely available? Certainly not the vast majority of the American public. Such a thing as too much information, you know.

Now if the Taliban, or al-Qaeda could find out everything the highest circles of military leaders were planning, they could take some steps to either evade, or counteract, the effects of upcoming engagements on the battlefield. Makes the whole effort to settle the war quickly rather pointless.

Oh! Horrible thought! there may be some people who do not WANT the Americans to succeed too easily, it is "unfair". Of course, the opposite side of the coin, in that somehow the Taliban and al-Qaeda DO prevail, and the US succumbs to their superior will, what will be the logical conclusion from that course of events? Does anybody WANT the Islamic fundamentalists to WIN?

FYI -- by the time you hear or see a B-2, it's too late. So no one is in danger from Fox News...There also are no anti-aircraft left for the enemy to shoot with. What's the problem?

I'm certainly a FNC fan but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out roughly when the bomber is gonna be over Afghanistan, thereby giving them time to move people and stuff that we'd rather they didn't move. They need to shut up.

Is it Peter Jennings that is a Canadian?

The media is stupid. ALl they want to do is babble. Babble anything. Even if it means more lives lost. The mainstream media behaves like a hysterical child having a tamtrum wanting to give away all the family secrets so their precisious ratings will go up.

Why doesn't the Canadian ask why heir Klinton (and his spouse) allowed this to happen? Just goes to show ya what ya get when a 'dogpatch' dude is elected and foreigners in the media support him, now don't it?

Well, there's this little thing called "war", and it's not the the video game that we've come to think it is. In the world of a *serious* military you don't get access to information until you meet two criteria - the proper security level AND the "need to know".

Of course it's been a while since the US has been serious about its military, so your thoughts don't really surprise me.

I came to a conclusion months ago. Most media people are so consumed with sucking up to "sources" and performing "self abuse" with their columns, that they are totally oblivious to what is going on in the rest of the world. 99% of Freepers are better informed than these presstitutes. And this is not limited to Liberals.

Absolutely. I hear the media repeat myths and falsehoods that have been repeatedly debunked here at FR. I'm not talking about philosophy, but cold hard facts - which the news readers seem unable or unwilling to unearth.

Heck, why do you think these people get so upset that the Bush Administration is holding back info? The media hasn't actually had to find their own news for years; now that they aren't spoonfed they can't handle their own jobs.

I know Peter ... we should announce ALL our plans so that Bin Laden will know too. Never mind about the element of surprise. Never mind that MORE lives will be lost with our plans exposed. Never mind that it is insane to fight terrorists who hide and operate in the dark what OUR plans are. No, no, we must announce our plans so the terrorists can regroup and elude us. How nice of Peter to show how much eh really cares about our military.

MM, I responded to you because you were the last one to post--I think I'm not alone in saying, I DON'T CARE if my particular congressman (congresswoman, Diana Degette!!!) knows what's going on. It's MUCH more important to me, right now, that our troops are safe. They're out there, putting their lives on the line.... Let's do all we can to protect them. This garbage makes me so mad. I just hope that most of the rest of the country (sheeples?) feels that way, too.

Peter Jennings--watch him--watch his smirks and eyebrow twitches when he talks about israel. He is a pseudo-intellectual and a crypto-anti-semite. Hanan Ashrawi's ex boyfriend, no less. You may recall his town hall-style meeting after Bush's speech to congress. Bush went out of his way, overboard ad nauseam to say that "Islam is peace" and various anti-bigotry statements. Jennings had a set up. The first "citizen" he interviewed was a muslim. Jennings asked something like "did Bush say enough to protect muslims?" the muslim said "no". It was ridiculous. I wish someone here so inclined would create a video of these smirks, gestures, and statements. You could create a loop to play at parties. I'd call it "Jennings in America" a la "Jihad in America."

this is the same behavior I saw CHris Berman of ESPN exhibit. THey are afraid that their business, news and gossip, will dry up and they will actually have to work. Self-serving hypocrites is what they are. They are worried about business.

Some freeper nailed this development a few days ago. They were watching some ABC weekend "news" show and some infobabe was making all the usual allusions and casting aspersions on the US. One of the tip-off phrases was referring to the Northern Alliance as the "so-called Northern Alliance", a sure tip-off that the liberal scum are against them. And this freeper, in his post said "just wait till little peter starts attacking GWB". And so it comes to pass. He needs to get out of our country and spew his venom somewhere else. What a despicable individual.

But Howlin, is it FAIR to not warn terrorists what our plans are? After all, aren't we above board and out in the open? ;) Somehow I'm not saying it right. I suppose it's this weird utopian viewpoint coming into play that I just can't get my mind around.

Some men get VD from their intimacy with skanky women. When Jennings was sleeping with PLO lackey Hanan Ashrawi in the 70s, he caught some kind of virulent intellectual rot. He belongs to the hate America/Israel camp and ought to be kicked out of this country on his ass.

In short, he's perfect for Disney/ABC.

Let's post, yes, once again, the email for ABC. I know we bombarded them a couple of weeks ago, but it seems to me that this is even worse. Does anyone have the email address
