Everybody's so uptight, the terrorists could fill a cropduster up with distilled water and buzz the downtown of any good sized city - I bet the panic would kill as many people as their garden variety anthrax would.

I talked to my mother an hour ago and she said there was a scare in downtown Cleveland today as well. She works in a building right near the Federal Building downtown. She said that it turned out to be nothing, but she was quite surprised by the immediate and large FBI presence, even in light of their proximity to the Fed Bldg.

For what it's worth, anthrax isn't a white powder.
So far, there has been no follow-up in the news media on any of these numerous white-powder stories.

What is it that automatically makes a powder "mysterious"?

I wonder if they'll allow foul lines at Yankee Stadium tonight. It's a hitter's park already. With nothing but fair territory, it could get out of hand.

FNC reporting that "powder" was found at U.S. State Department. They aren't evacuating at this point. They did turn off the air conditioner.

I hope the flour mills learn how to pack a ten pound sack of flour so it doesn't leak.
I have been watching CNN a bit more that usual lately, and have learned several things:
I have to be afraid of being near an airplane.
I have to be afraid of Arabic looking people.
I have to be afraid of crowds.
Now I have to be afraid of "mysterious white powder" any white stuff that can't be instantly identified at a distance.
Ah the heck with it. I'm not a member of the media or the Hollywood Elite, so I'll just keep on keeping on.

Several scares in 3 different cities in KY, as well. One in Covington (near my in-laws), 3 in Lexington, and 1 in Louisville (near me - in southern IN). The last I heard - which was a couple of hours ago - the ones in Covington and Louisville were false alarms, but the one in Lexington they are supposedly still investigating.

Downtown? Downtown where. Wait Columbus oh thank God I thought it was here. Guess I can take off the gas mask for a few minutes and stop running around like a chicken with my head cut off. Geeeeeezzzzzzzzzzzzz let's get a grip and only report ANTRAX attacks after the first 10 confirmed cases. Which would = zero attacks based on that standard. Everyone should just about be exhausted from worry by now. Bin Laden is not super human nor are other terrorist and they don't have as much support in the muslem world as the press would have you believe. We just need to kill as many of the bastards as we can for as long as we need to.

Same scenario in Birmingham, AL today. Downtown city blocks closed around the tallest building in the area which is where a package arrived with a "mysterious white powder" and 5 people taken to a local hospital. Don't know whether to believe it or what.

--I expect them now to send out one zillion false alarm harmless powder mailings. Then after a month or so, the 'real stuff' all on one day.

They should bust down the door of every crack house, while they're at it.

Would that be the powder that Illinois is going to pound the Buckeyes into when they play this year?

Geeze -- with a 10-pound bag of flour terrorists could shut down half of America's 10 largest cities.
Just think of the panic you could create with a 50-pound bag of flour!

On the news tonight they said the powder was brown. They had a guy on from the health department that said actually antrhax doesn't come in a powder. Looks like this could go on a while.
