BREAKING NEWS: Mysterious powder found in downtown

Area around Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging closed off.

A section of downtown Columbus has been blocked off and several people taken to the hospital for decontamination after the discovery of a mysterious white powder at a building Wednesday afternoon.

The Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging, 174 E. Long St., has been evacuated as a precaution, and the area surrounding the building is closed off.

Sgt. Earl Smith of the Columbus Police Department tells 10TV that a business-sized envelope contained the powder. The letter was from a doctor here in Ohio, though we do not know whether it was hand-delivered or sent through the mail.

10TV has learned between 10 and 15 people, including firefighters, are being taken to Grant MedicalCenter for decontamination. Samples from the powder willbe tested to determine exactly what the substance is.

Below is from the Kens5 website in San Antonio. I had heard about the envelope at the municipal building on the radio on the way home. I must admit I was startled to read about the business at Kelly USA, as that is where my husband works. I called down there, and he hasn't heard anything about it, of course he went in at 11am, hasn't left the building, and is still there. He leads such a wonderful cloistered work life of a programmer... sits in a freezing cold room, writing code w/headphones on.. laugh

I think that some nutcase is sending these things just to keep people on edge.

Investigators are dealing with two suspicious, but separate situations in San Antonio.
The first, involves several envelopes with a powdery substance delivered to Kelly USA.
At least three envelopes were discovered at Kelly USA. Four people complained about breathing problems.
Officials also are investigating a late afternoon discovering downtown. At least one envelope with a
possible picture and powdery substance was found upstairs from City Council chambers at the
Municipal Plaza Building. The FBI and Lackland HAZ-MAT crews remained on
the scene at Kelly USA. San Antonio fire and police departments and EMS and HAZ-MAT
crews were at both scenes. Officials could not determine if the two incidences were related.

If these were mailed by USPS or FedEx it should be possible to trace where they were mailed. If it is a hoax or an actual attack somewhere out there there will be a video tape of the perp mailing the package.

I bet the sales of cocaine will sure fall. The easiest way to get drugs to the people is through the drugs being shipped here from foreign countries with no control over its contents AND they pay for them. No danger for the terrorist.
