Please, calm down.
That man has probably gotten 8 hours of TOTAL sleep in the past month. And you are a heartless B@stard for saying he has done nothing worthy.
I never said that he hadn't done anything... But I don't think that he has done anything significantly moreso than any other person that has contributed to the effort -- including the hundreds of firemen, police, and other workers who have been on the site trying to find people, clearing the debris, etc.
The trial balloon that was floated was NOT about staying on as an advisor -- it was about staying on as mayor. I'm just pointing out the hypocrisy because Freepers would be up in arms if a Democrat was trying to extend his term because of a national tragedy.
Rudy can do whatever he wants when he is not mayor. He can go down and help in many, many ways -- no one is stopping him from doing that.
There simply are few people in this world capable of the kind of leadership that Rudy showed us in the last month. Yes, many people put fourth as much effort as he, however it was his leadership that got NY through it so smoothly. They man just about gave his life along with the rest of the Fire Fighters and was forced to leave just before the collapse.
I had my grievances with Rudy, however even if Al Gore had done what Rudy has done, I would praise the hell out of him.
It is the part of advisor that the democrats would like to keep him from as well. And had Al Gore been in Rudy's shoes and shined so well, I would fight just as hard to keep him on longer to help NY get through the tragedy.
But to be quite honest, that city simply would not have been back up and running as fast as it did, had another been in place of Rudy. Sure, New Yorkers have the ability, but Rudy gave them the motivation and support.
