The moslems in India decided they weren't happy. They started a civil war. Pakistan was formed to accommodate them. Three subsequent wars with India... Then, I guess because they couldn't find anybody else to fight with, they argued amongst themselves, finally Bangla Desh split off...
Iran used to be a very prosperous country with a large number of intellectuals.. until Ayatollah came along.. Lebanon used to be one of the jewels of the mideast
