There are two distinct parts of the law enforcement community: Rank and file members who do the work and the law enforcement "leadership", the latter being nothing but political hacks licking the boots of whatever elected official gives them the most power.
The rank and file have always overwhelmingly supported the right of self defense. The LE Leadership are simply parroting the political line they've been fed for many years.
You're absolutely right, Gig. The political hacks are so afraid of losing those "million mom" votes that they oppose what should be considered common sense. Talk to the rank and file police members and you'll likely get a strong approval. Not that that is any reason to stop Ohio from permitting concealed carry anyway.
Having just moved from OH to TN, I haven't noticed any appreciable gain in blood on the streets. As well, people are just more polite down here. :^)
