Let's see. The French got their ass kicked by the Kaiser in World War I. They rolled over and played dead for Hitler in World War II. They got us into Vietnam. They refused to let us fly over their airspace to bomb Gadahfi. Mmmmmmm. Yeah, I guess this is typical. The French are the most gutless country that ever dotted the planet. They have no shame and no courage.
No doubt. I am an admirer of "old" French culture, aka the Revolutionaries of 1787 (not what came afterwards though), and of LaFayette with his very Jeffersonian leanings. Voltaire was cool. They make great food and wonderful wine. Most of their women are at a minimum passable pretty, moving upwards to gorgeous. I started learning French in 9th Grade and didn't stop until my last year of college.
However, I'm sad to say that my infatuation with the French has departed years ago, along with their best souls and bravest hearts. Now all the seems to occupy France is a shallow, insipid shadow of what once was. People so narcissitic and anti-intellectual that it defies imagination. A country so bent backwards on itself it would not recognize its own former greatness if it came back and kicked them in the @ss.
Sigh...What a sad nation they have become. The last time I visited France, the airport Customs officer stamped my Passport with "We Surrender", translated into 318 different languages. I wasn't aware that I was an invading force until that moment. I'm still trying to decide what to do with my "invasion" booty. :)
