"Yes for Jihad in the name of Allah, yes for Islam, yes for the Intifadah. We're going toward the future that Allah promised us. Allah is one. Mohammad is the leader. The Koran is our constitution. Jihad is our path. Victory to Islam. Death to Israel." (Translated from Arabic) It would be understandable if one assumed that the statements above were taken from a rally or speech in the Middle East; however, this was the conclusion to a speech that took place in the heartland of America: Chicago, Illinois on September 29, 1991. The speaker was Dr. Sami Al Arian, a professor of computer science and engineering at the University of South Florida in Tampa.
The stir created by O'Reilly's Factor regarding an interview with Dr. Sami Al Arian resulted in his being placed on a paid leave from USF-Tampa.

Paid leave? Ouch ... I hate it when that happens.

It just so happened I'd forgotten I had a copy of "Reading the Muslim Mind" sitting on my shelves to read someday. I've read it through a couple time and, while Mr. Hathout and I may disagree on some bits of history and faith, I find his concise presentation comprehensive and fair. Just as when some pervert Christianity to obtain political or some other material gain via fear and hate, Islam now is being perverted.

I still maintain this "consciousness-raising" in Islam is the result of the same folks whose stock in trade it is to destroy from within.

The only difference being, of course, that whilst they've turned Christian soldiers into "Social Justice & Peace"-keeping pansies, they've mobilized fanatics in Islam to offer themselves as the human equivalent of plastic explosives, accelerants and other weapons of destruction which only end up making martyrs and sending to paradise those innocents whose deaths condemn the suicide bombers and "jihadists" to hell ... assuming they believe in their own prophet.

Seems all of a piece, to me. I suspect only militant atheists could be so cunning as to turn faith in God to their advantage and let the People of the Book destroy each other such that the State must needs step in to provide God's blessings (a/k/a "Prosperity") and Security to all concerned.

I do very much appreciate the extraordinarily juicy posts. I'm taking names as I read them over a time or two.

Best regards, Wallaby ... I've still got a shot of your Aussie cousin and meant to link it when I saw Geocities had broken your attempts. =)
