For the past few weeks, many scriptural postings have been made. All have brought their share of opposition from many. The highlighted text in this sermon, I believe, clarifies why this has been happening.

For too long in this country, we have approached life from a secular mindset. Hopefully, God will bring us back to a more Biblical view of things.

For your perusal and discussion.

...the secular mindset thinks from a radically different starting point. It does not start with the Creator rights of God to display the infinite worth of his glory. It starts with man and assumes that God will conform to his rights and wishes.

Good stuff. Thank you for the heads-up.

OK, someone has to...

I would only advise that while we have seen more overt religiousness on the part of our leaders as a result of recent events, the religious right should not see this as an opportunity to try to foist religion on American daily life and further into government activity.

Thanks to both of you for the flag.....I am trying to absorb this...In many ways it is consistant to my beliefs...and then in some it promps new thought

Boil that down to the most basic problem the death of Christ is meant to solve. God put Christ forward (he sent him to die) in order to demonstrate his righteousness (or justice). The problem that needed solving was that God, for some reason seemed to be unrighteous, and wanted to vindicate himself and clear his name

But what created that problem? Why did God face the problem of needing to give a public vindication of his righteousness? The answer is in the last phrase of verse 25: "on account of passing over sins done beforehand."

Now what does that mean? It means that for centuries God had been doing what Psalm 103:10 says, "He does not deal with us according to our sins or requite us according to our iniquities." He just passes over them. He does not punish them.

This is a new thought to me..I have always thought of the cross as a sign of God's Mercy and Grace, the ultimate act of love for sinful man..not as an act to vindicate His name.

Any further insite would be welcome...

Excellent points. When the secularists take the "man is the measure of all things" position, it only leads them to grievous error. They don't apprehend that the true awfulness and heinousness of sin is that it is treason - and it is treason against a holy Being who has done us no wrong! Their conceit is imagining they have standing to question the Almighty, Lord of the Universe!
