Interestingly the "love" shown to those who became the Columbine killers included putting them on perscription psychoactive drugs and ignoring them (hence not knowing about the arsenal in the basement).
I do not recognise these behaviours as being consistent with "love". Drugging a child in to submission because you can't seem to rally the personal fortitude to raise him properly is better characterised as "self-absorption" rather than "love".
