Possible links between Greyhound attacker, Osama and the KLA
Strategic Issues Research Inst. ^ | Talkwire.com

The suspected lone bus attacker Damir Igric had a Croat passport. There are direct connections between Osama bin Laden and terrorists from Croatia. Complete Articles HERE

These articles focus on activities in Kosovo and Albania by Osama bin Laden and his crowd of Islamic Fundamentalist terrorists, allying themselves with the KLA --Kosovo Liberation Army-- from the summer of 1998 on. BELOW ARE SOME HIGHLIGHTS:

A Defense Department statement on August 20, 1998 said Bin Laden's Al Qa'ida organization supports Moslem fighters in both Bosnia and Kosovo.

The trainers and fighters in the KLA include many of the Iranians who fought in Bosnia in the early 1990s. Intelligence sources place their number at 7,000, many of whom have married Bosnian women. There are also Afghans, Algerians, Chechens, and Egyptians.

ALBANIAN authorities working with the Central Intelligence Agency claim to have uncovered a terrorist network operated by Osama Bin Laden, the Islamic fundamentalist accused of masterminding the African embassy bombings last August. The network is said to have been set up to use Albania, a Muslim country, as a springboard for operations in Europe. Fatos Klosi, the head of Shik, the Albanian intelligence service, said last week that Bin Laden had visited Albania himself. His was one of several fundamentalist groups that had sent units to fight in Kosovo, the neighbouring Muslim province of Serbia, Klosi said. "Egyptians, Saudi Arabians, Algerians, Tunisians, Sudanese and Kuwaitis - they come from several different organisations."

You eat carrots.

Osama bin Laden eats carrots.

YOU must be a terrorist.

Why read any further?

Cute little logic game. BUT, in this case, Damir Igric IS A TERRORIST! He killed 10 people today.

Your article said he was connected to bin Laden because he was Croatian.

It's a stupid and illogical premise with which to begin an article.

There's no information about terrorists from Croatia in ANY of the articles he links to. The fact remains Croatia is a Catholic country and not exactly a base for radical Islamic terrorism.

There's an awful lot of Serbian-apologist type stuff floating around on FR presumably from Serbian-Americans....that is often of very dubious factual value. Be careful. Particularly when it tries to paint the Bosnians as a bunch of raving fundamentalist Muslims...there probably wasn't a less-religious Muslim community in the world than the Bosnians prior to the Bosnian Civil War. But, after it was going on a few years and the Serbs had managed to massacre whatever Bosnian Muslims they could get their hands on (Of course, all three sides in the conflict committed atrocities...the Serbs were the worst merely because they could be..they were the best armed and most powerful) various extremist Islamic factions did try to enter the region, recruit, etc, and they certainly were able to find a small number of radicalized adherents.

Note..I don't have a dog in that fight...I'm 1/2 In-America-for-400-years-English, and 1/2 Roman Catholic Slovak..not even near Yugoslavia, and just an interested observer.

Croatia is predominantly Catholic, but it has Orthodox and Muslim enclaves, and clinton did indeed bring in, or allowed to be brought in, Muslim terrorists from the Middle East and Afghanistan during the Bosnian conflict. We don't know if this guy is a Muslim, and maybe given the press in this country we'll never find out. But it's certainly a possibility.

Maybe he's just a Croat with mental problems. Let's hope.

Hang on for a tick; this could be a rogue follower, acting without orders. Seems a little terror-y.

Thanks for your perspective.

Tito kept Yugoslavia under his boot and under control. Milosevic was a brutal communist who deserves to rot in prison. The Serbian people had to suffer under his tyranny.

OTOH, you're right about Croatia; it's not a predominantly Muslim nation.

No, it's a predominately Catholic nation with it's share of Christian/Muslim anomosity. I travelled in the former communist Yugoslavia in the eighties, including the area of Croatia, and definitely saw mosques there. We drove by a gorge that is famous because......if I remember correctly.....a bunch of Muslims were thrown into it by some Caholics. Atrocities had been committed for centuries on both sides, from what I remember.

-----------------------------------------

so by your simplistic logic:

if Terrorist is Croat and

and not all Croat are Muslim

Then terrorist cant be Muslim

Sorry, but Croatia served as a transit point for arms sent through Sudan by Usama Bin Ladin to Muslim brigades operating in Bosnia. The Croatians played the game because they hoped the Muslims and Serbs would slaughter each other and make it easier for Croatia to carve away its share of Bosnia-Herzogevina

No. If the terrorist is Croat.

And not all Croats are Muslim.

Then the terrorist may, or may not, be a Muslim.

That's my logic. I don't know where you got your syllogism.

A lot of the pro-Serb stuff is being posted from overseas by a few people. It also tends to be posted in the morning (Eastern European time)/late at night here(US Eastern Standard time).

That being said, the fact that this gentleman had a foreign passport definitely needs to be followed up. The dead murderer may have been using a false identity and/or passport. A Croatian passport would raise less eyebrows at INS than would someone with say a Bosnian, Yugoslavian or Macedonian passport. And it definitely would raise less eyebrows than an Afghani or Iraqi passport.

You can put it that way if you want, that is a POSSIBILITY

But lets put it into context of the current events and say that the PROBABILITY is that he will be a Muslim (maybe not) but I think most people will go with the air of context.

A fake Croat passport would arouse less suspicion than an Arab-nation one would. But many details are still being withheld, like 1) how long had he been in the US, 2) what kind of visa did he have (travel, student, etc.) 3) what was his INS status (illegal, whatever.)

Of course......it's possible that isn't the guy's real name or country.

It's fairly hilarious, though, how many people in threads today thought Croatia was a Muslim country, or that said "Damir Igric? That's a Muslim name!"

Basically, I'm sure there's plenty of wacky Croatian and Bosnian propaganda against Serbs but it just doesn't get posted here as much.

It's a little frightening how many FReepers seem to buy into the Serb-apologist propaganda now that the Serbs and Bosnian Serbs were pure-as-the-driven-snow heroic defenders of Europe against the raving Muslim fanatic hordes which is both hiliariously stupid, and totally wrong.
