Don't remember the title, but it goes like this:

In the southern part of Texas
Near the town of San Antone
Like a statue on his pony
Rides a cowboy all alone.

And he sees the cattle grazin'
Where a century before
Santa Anna's guns were blazin'
And the cannons used to roar.

His eyes grow sort of misty
And his heart begins to glow
And he takes his hat off slowly
To the men of Alamo.......

Wish I could remember who did this one. Can't hear it all with a dry eye. Of course, The Marine Corp's Hymn is an absolute must. My theme is courage and sacrifice when courage and sacrifice are most needed. We need to be aprayin', and the Navy Hymn is as good a prayer for the safety of our military as there is.

JMHO.

Seems to me Whitney Houston did a really great "National Anthem" also.

That song is the "Ballad of the Alamo"

You can download it (along with other Alamo songs) here

My guess as to who did that tune would be Marty Robbins.
