This smug self-importance is one of the main turnoffs of Christianity.
It's amazing. A person can say, look in the Bible and read this chapter or type it on the screen, and a person like you gets all bent out of shape because he doesn't agree with what God says because through his own brilliant reasoning of what he thinks God should be like he doesn't agree with it (although God says it) and thinks the person who showed it to him is all screwed up. Amazing.
How true. Christians would convert a lot more people if they simply lived in accordance with some their beliefs and left off the attempts at theology. It does not help that so many of their "teachers" and "learned" reverends, particularly the Baptists [whereof I know much of what I speaketh], wallow and revel in ignorance and anti-intellectualism as if God's love were inversely proportional to IQ.
If God is just, as the bible states, I think he'll honor your request. I can't see him forcing you to spend eternity in heaven with a bunch of smug christians..:)
