America is the most powerful and freest nation in history (maybe about to lose both power and liberty, but still...) and our very existence is a refutation of the teachings of Mohammed. The fact that Muslims may come to our land and live peacably and free makes us all the more reprehensible to many Muslims. (Actually, it is the same way Christ offends EVERYONE who rejects Him.
