From an Israeli and written from an Israeli viewpoint.

Absolutely no recognition of the fact that America is a secular state. I don't think we'll be handing the keys to CVN Nimitz anytime soon.

Well, we are not Israel. They are our allies, but we are not a Jewish state and our Constitution is not based on religious exclusion.
The effort with the Moslems is simply an effort to shave off those who are not inclined to participate in a religious war. I am certain that the President and his people understand the mind set of these fanatics, and the necessity of avoiding dissension with Arab allies while we position forces. He is a pretty good poker player.

...America is waging a physical war against a metaphysical enemy... The heart of the matter. A war of Muslims against the Christians and the Jews.

Well done: the man has a valid point. I pray his conclusion does not prove out however.

Crawl back into your hell hole of a country and don't come back. Spineless cowards who straffe children are as guilty of murder as the Taliban. I see no difference between your people and the Palestinians. Both are liars willing to kill innocents for a scrap of worthless bombed-out city. Perhaps Americans will wake up and no longer support of the endless conflict. The region has been a problem for more than 30 years and all countries in the region should be on the target list for American jets. Better yet, five well-placed ICBM's would eliminate the problem for the civilized world.

Find out why Bush is sending Americans to the mosque.

We lost this one too? (sarcasm)
Guess that means the pro-drug addiction people here at FR would advocate legalizing terrorism as they wish drugs to be.
Still, we already LOST the war on terror? Do we really know that?
Silly stuff. The best thing about the terror war is it is closely associatied in areas with drug cultivators and the war on drugs might finally become a real war.

From an Israeli and written from an Israeli viewpoint. From an Israeli I suppose, but written with a reactionary viewpoint that offers no solution. Yes, it is a war, but not necessarily a religious war. It is more about culture, and a sub-culture at that. We don't need to blow up Mecca. We need to punish the radical Islamic elements and their patrons in various totalitarian governments that promote war. Punish them militarily, economically, politically and socially. Their weapon is intolerance. We need to use that same weapon on them and do it ruthlessly and without remorse while continuing to show friendship and tolerance for those Moslems who do not live by hate.

Part of me hopes that the President and his inner circle keep perspectives like this in the back of their minds, as they deal with the immediate threat, with all of its economic and political implications.
The sad reality is there is probably much truth in what this writer says. But, we are in no position to quarrel with the entire Arab world, given the importance of oil and the national economy.
This piece, and others like it that attempt to pull our PC blinders off, only serve for me to underscore the critical importance of developing American sources of oil (like ANWR) that will reduce, if not eliminate our reliance on foreign sources.
Because, let's face it, if it weren't for oil, we wouldn't give a crap what the tinhorn despots of some barren wasteland thought about what we did.

Exactly - we are not Israel. We are Americans, we are spiritual, and we practice our spirituality freely. Our people seek God because they want to, not because they have to, and as a result Americans are the most religious free people on earth. My Muslim, Christian, and Jewish neighbors are Americans fighting together FOR this nation; I don't take kindly to anyone from ANY other nation telling me that any American, regardless of background, is anything BUT American.

I think its really insulting for any Israeli to stick his nose in our business in an attempt to talk us into fighting his enemy so he wont have to get his hands dirty or lose any soldiers, while our boys die on his battlefields. Let him fight his own wars and mind his own damn business.

Failure to recognize this as the 3rd Crusade will doom us.

I have met other Isarelis who also call for genocide. Such irrational perspective is part of thegordian knot we face in dealing with the radicalism od Islam, the Islamism that is serving a satanic vision of genocide to a cultural rather than religious foe of the radicals. To allow ourselves a stumble into also calling for genocide, but genocide of a religious target, is to become as or worse than the enemy that did the atrocity of the WTC and Pentagon. No thanks. My message to the spirit of the author's urging: I think rational minds can find a much more plausible approach that avoids the bloodlust of genocide. Go back to your cesspool in Hell. Your time has not quite arrived yet, Satan.

Bear in mind how the Crusades ended.

Hopefully, people here on FR will keep the comments civil. The subject of the religious aspect of the War on Terrorism is one that must be discussed. We are told almost universally that only a small fraction of Muslims are of the fundementalist stripe. That it is a peaceful religion.
However, although few Muslims will choose to commit suicide in a Jihad, there is widespread support for the terrorists in the streets of the Muslim world, particularly in the Arab Muslim world. There was indeed dancing in the streets in almost every Arab country on September 11. Even in the New York and Chicago Arab communities.
I think that much of what this author says will prove to be true. We will catch bin Laden and some other terrorists. But we will entrap ourselves into an alliance with so-called "moderate" Arab countries which will do little to help us and will in fact continue to finance and support the terrorists. And thus the war will not go away or be won.

Bingo, and our leaders had better start exploiting our own resources and developing new sources of energy or we're never going to be free and independant of this filth.
