I read about this a few months ago. This thing rocks, I think a weapon like this would make an excellent close range, last minute missle defense on ships. The downside is that once the barrel full of bullets is fired, you have to replace the whole barrel, so probably this would be relegated to static defenses somehow.

We looked at this thing for last minute ship defense. It's practically useless - the rounds go everywhere.
