The poster is at least suggesting that the plane went down in the harbor. Poetic license? Anyway, the crash killed all 217 people on board. US opinion was suicide. Others said accident. Others said bomb. Obviously, if this poster is honoring the pilot, the persons who created it were not thinking suicide. Maybe, but probably not accident either. And if a bomb, why would it just be honoring the pilot? Something seems to be missing in your friend's story.
