That was my initial thinking as well. But since these are terrorists we are talking about, what to keep them from stealing identities and then murdering the real person? I am no tin-foil hatter, but this seems like something that woule be trivial to them.

What if any one of them just wanted the authorities to think that he was dead, when he wasn't even on the flight,maybe Mohammed Atta?
Look how much older and more experienced Atta looks than the others. Just what evidence do we have that he is dead or was on the flight?
I think that he is still out there, preparing for the next big event.
