We need to erase those people (and ONLY those people) who dared to murder Americans on American soil and then extricate ourselves from the whole business as quickly as possible.

Those people may have been supported by Hussein, which means there'll be more terrorism shortly. And nukes.

We're going to be in the Gulf for a good long while, my friend. You may as well get used to it.

That may be true but if you just start picking off Islamic countries you are going to ignite a war of civilizations. If that happens, we had better be prepare to kill every last Arab and/or Muslim on the face of the earth because they will keep coming at us. They are like American Indians in this regard. They will run at us with tomahawks if that is all they have.

Whatever doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. That goes double for the Arabs.

You're thesis makes no sense. Why would Saddam hire Islamic fundamentalists (who hate him) to attack the U.S.?

Saddam wants to survive. His goal is to get those sanctions lifted and get things back to the "good ol' days".

Why would he risk an ill-advised attack on America that ensures swift destruction for all culprits, including himself?

Saddam may be evil, but he's no fool.

This whole idea of an Iraqi connection, was dreamed up in Wolfowitz's office and leaked to the press.

The man is absolutely salivating at the prospect of toppling Saddam.

Translation: We are (if we follow sinkspur's advice) going to multiply the tragedy of 9-11 by having thousands of American boys coming home in boxes in order to attempt to make the world safe for the Israelis. No thanks.

Gee Sinky, now you're sounding like that shitkicking liberal warmongering bastard LBJ. I ask you again, how did you dodge the draft? How did you avoid military service? You are what British philosopher Michael Oakeshott called "the failed individual"--you swallow "national greatness" propaganda to compensate for your own empty, uncentered, unreflective existence--a low-rent Albert Speer, technocratic friend of totalitarians. Do you have sons, Sinky? Probably not. Recent history's biggest saber-rattlers (LBJ and Tricky Dick) didn't.

You're just another aging angry old neo-con, one who, like Kagan, Kristol, Wolfowitz and the rest of that globalist crowd, loves to rattle a sabers in peace but doesn't have the balls to carry one in war.
