Are Candiens doing anything to fix the problems? If not, will the decline continue? If so, what will Canada do if it is attacked, rely on the USA to do the dirty work? Respectfully curious......Go Gordon

Seconded. (From an American.)

Having said that, Canadians need to change their voting trends.

When I was in Vietnam we had some Canadians there with us who had crossed the border and enlisted at a time when some of our folks had crossed the border to avoid the opportunity to serve this country when it counted big. I don't bash Canada in any case, nor any of the smaller countries, considering that the best that they could do at maximum expenditure would be worth about 15 minutes in a real war. My impression, though, has been that they do take their turns at bat, and maybe more, in the many situations where military forces at a somewhat less lethal level can be useful, and I suspect that individually in most cases and institutionally given a few months, we would find the Canadians quite welcome and useful in whatever we might be up to militarily in a lower techbology way.

Well, if you guys have a progressive tax system, you're screwed because you'll never make a majority. Liberals are clever little rascals. They've essentially created taxation without representation by forcing a segment of the population to pay all the taxes that will never be able to make a majority. OTOH, those that don't pay any taxes will make a majority and will always vote for the politician that promises them the most "freebies."

Only one problem with the liberal's scheme. It cannot be sustained forever. It will eventually implode upon itself as the taxpaying minority becomes demoralized, produces less, and eventually provides less tax revenues. The government response will be to increase taxes, which will further erode productivity, which will further reduce tax revenues, etc. etc.

Hi Habs, Having many Canuck friends, I concur it is not really funny. I also remember the Iran hostage crisis and how the Canadian embassy helped save a number of Americans. Canadians are our good friends, folks. Enough jokes, eh?
