Reuters Photo
Captured Taliban soldiers look out from the window of a prison in Panjsher Valley, the Northern Alliance military stronghold, September 25, 2001. The United States, moving to isolate Afghanistan's Taliban rulers as it prepares to hit them militarily, scored a diplomatic coup when Saudi Arabia cut ties with the Muslim regime. Sheeezzz - That photo sucks! - They look Happy!

Remember this 1968 Pulitzer winning photo of the execution of a Viet Cong prisoner, the captain of a terrorist squad, on the streets of Saigon...

A photo of Osama Bin Ladin, and his crew, like this would be a perfect Pulitzer bookend to the 1998 Clinton Impeachment photo.

Those are the happiest looking prisoners and the flimsiest looking jail cell I've seen in a long time.

Must be the same contractor as the one who built all those jail cells for James Bond and Captain Kirk.

Where would you rather be? In this "sturdy" jail, or with your comrades looking at 20 Apache helicopters coming over the hill at you?

They are probably happy to be alive. I would be in their shoes. Once the serious shooting starts, all the conscripts will fade away, leaving us fighting the hard core fanatics. These guys are probably kept in a flimsy cell because anyone sane wouldn't even try an escape, with all the power being assembled against them.

Remember that story from the Gulf War, where they found this one Iraqi soldier wearing a Chicago Bulls T-shirt? He had been visiting some relatives in Iraq (he was from Chicago) and got conscripted.

These taliban are some SICK puppies, I heard a news story that when they first took power and instated thier rules, there was a woman with 3 kids and a husband of course, who refused to wear the garb and continued to wear make-up. The soldiers of the Taliban went in, took her husband and jailed him, then took her outside and in front of her 3 children shot her dead.

The Taliban are animals, it's no wonder these prisoners are smiling!!!

This thread is too funny. If they're happy, then I'm happy too. Obviously they are not die-hard Bin Lada fans.

Reminds me of the Iraqi soldiers who begged to be captured by the Allies during Desert Storm.

In one video clip of US soldiers capturing Iraqis, the Iraqis were calling Bush "President Bash". Seemed appropriate at the time.

Later on, it seemed that G.H.W. should have "bashed" a few more Iraqi skulls.
