Damned rights this is war. And the FReepers have a right to be pissed! We were attacked! On our own soil! Thousands of our countrymen were killed by a foreign power. The bombed out buildings of NYC and the Pentagon are war zones. The enemy was aiming to knockout the Whitehouse, Airforce One, Camp David, the Capitol, the Pentagon our financial centers and who knows what else? And they came dangerously close to accomplishing their goal. Had they succeeded and killed our Pres, Vice Pres, leaders of Congress, our military chain of command and our financial centers, the USA would've completely collapsed. This is NOT the Balkins. This is America defending her own soil and her own blood. And we are still under attack. The terrorists can strike anywhere at anytime. No one will know where or when or with what they will attack next. The federal government clearly has the Constitutional responsibility and authority to defend the nation when it is attacked and that's exactly what President Bush and his people are doing. I am beginning to think that if the Libertarians do not have the intestinal fortitude to defend the nation when deliberately attacked by foreign powers, then we should thank God and pray that they will NEVER have sufficient numbers to get elected to any meaningful office.

Hey...

Watch that broad brush buddy.

Rockwell doesn't speak for all libertarians, and neither does Harry Browne.

I have been ashamed of both in these past weeks.

Well, I agree entirely with you. I've been extremely ticked at the response of some Libertarians to this emergency. Some are stepping up to the plate, but others seem more concerned about the breath of their rights. While I understand these concerns, I feel me all must unite around the flag, and defend the country.

I would say that in order to exercise your rights, you have to actually be alive. I think it's pretty obvious that Mr. Bin Laden and his band of criminals intend to kill as many of us possible, thereby allowing us to exercise our rights from the grave.

Personally, I think that we should now exercise our right to kill Mr. Bin Laden. There simply is no other solution to this problem. If this means tightening up security for our country, then so be it.

Yes -- a big difference!

Sir, I have to disagree with you on two points here.

1)The military chain of command is just that. There would have been other ranking officers to fill the ranks. Fortunately, the Commander in Chief and Vice President were not harmed. Big shoes to fill there.

2)The USA would not have completely collapsed. The true fighting spirit of real Americans would have kept us on top. While it would have been a heavy demoralizing blow, we would still prevail.

Thanks for a great site.

All that idiocy comes from self-described libertarians who don't understand libertarianism. Apparently, Harry Browne is in that category.

Defense of Liberty, for your comments.
