I'd say this Jeff Elkins fella isn't spending much time here and really reading. There has been thread......after thread........after thread........after thread........after thread.........after thread on the topic of the possibility of our freedoms being eroded or outright given away (they're never "stolen") in such a climate as today. No, Mr. Elkins, it isn't the FReepers who are the lemmings, let me assure you. WE are the folks who hold Government's feet to the fire, and you can be damned sure that we watch our freedoms..........and yours...........very, VERY closely.

I remember Elkins being one of those Rockheads who tag-teamed screeds against FR during the period when the US spy/recon plane was struck by a Chinese pilot and landed on their mainland. That was after the swift and angry response to Rockwell's love letter/editorial to the Chinese communists ("China is Right," in which Rockwell said that the "American empire" had to be dismantled, refusing -- as always -- to address the fact that nature hates a vacuum).

Elkins, if I remember correctly, referred to this site as "Free Empire." I will say now what I said then: he calls himself a "freelance writer and consultant" -- there is no one that is reading these words that is unqualified for that job.

You got it. Elkins is no different than the usual enemies of FR that search for the worst representative posts on FR and try to characterize all of us by them. Fortunately, unlike Salon, Democrats.com, and dorks like David Brock, Elkins -- and for that matter, Rockwell -- are irrelevant -- almost as irrelevant as American Politics Journal (ha ha). They can slam us all they like, as far as I am concerned. They are alone in the forest, and are writing to us that they heard a tree fall.
