There are many bureacrats and law-and-order types in government who are eager to snoop on American citizens. Either through deliberance or ignorance, they are creating the trappings of a police state.Yes, I agree with you here. I certainly wouldn't trust the Clinton & Hitlary administration along this line. They DID misuse it. Now tell me, what will the government have access to that they don't have now, if we had a National ID card????

You think the government would give the Immigration National ID Card not us
To: Dr. Frank
If the FBI doesn't have the political willpower to round up and send home people who are known to have terrorist links and lapsed Visas, then what makes you think they will after a Nat'l ID card is in place? GREAT question. Good clear thinking. What will change? In fact, our FBI, CIA had all the evidence .... and did NOthing. Our Government has FAILED us.

I heard a liberal Afghani "expert" who has written a book, he's on all the networks (not an afghani person however) say that one of the good things the taliban has done is get guns off the street to make the streets safer.
My jaw dropped. THis one has been nagging at me since I heard it. Call me stupid, but I think if they had guns, there would be no taliban. It's like saying "Yes we got guns off the street, but a million people had there throats slit and were skinned alive by the government." Stupid people out there.

Why don't they do something to stop immigration and track down the illegals already here rather than curtail our freedoms and find ways to keep track of US, the innocent, loyal citizens After all the Federal Gov's primary responsibility is to protect and secure its citizens from harm. They have failed. It's difficult to know what we do from here. I personally have mixed emotions. Hugs

I see criminals walking the streets and making a mockery of the criminal justice system. Just curious, how do you see criminal walking the streets. How do you identify them? Do they wear a big "C" on their chest? Or do you have some mystical powers that allows you to divine their presence.
As far as the criminal justice system is concerned, it is a mockery and criminal. I would not give that agency, one more tiny ounce of power so that it can "sen[d] hither swarms of Officers to harass our people. . ."

The same GOVERNMENT that failed so miserably in its obligation to protect citizens that 7,000 of them died like cattle in a slaughterhouse on September 11th? THAT GOVERNMENT?? Part of the problem was the PAST 8 years of a leftist Government. Maybe in 7-8 months something should have been done - they seem to have had enough warning.

Just what rationale can you have to justify "trusting" anyone within the Federal government I'd say that in war time, and especially when our SURVIVAL as a nation is at stake, I have no problem with bending some rules. However, I'm not smart enough to know appropriate precautions and their uses. Just heard on FoxNews that our FBI/CIA haven't been talking to each other because of TURF issues. CAn you believe this??? They care more about their TURF and $HIT than our country's security? Of course the spokesman was Eric Holder.

You seem to know a lot about me. Thank goodness you're not running our government. I've worked in Aerospace and NASA most of my career.
NO, I'm very expendable and so is our space program. Of course, if I ran the agency, I'd use it for military purposes, right now. Thanks for knowing so much and I apologize if I've worked for the Feds.
It's nice to know we have BRIGHT, INTELLIGENT people, such as you on here.

I sincerely hope that if Mr Ellison is suck-sessful, you find another developer to assist! .....cause Oracle becomes a common target for all that which patriots despise harsh words but I agree. However, did you know that Todd Beamer, the young man who probably saved our Capitol, (downed PA plane) worked for Oracle?

Sean asked him would you consider putting all Arab Americans in intern camps Let's discuss this properly. Our concern is probably not Arab Americans. Who are they? I could be one. Our concern should be - the FOREIGNERS Arabs, non-citizens. There may be a few citizens who harbor them, especially in our U.S. Mosques, but I "might" consider rounding up non-citizens and culling through them, if it meant the survival of our country.

Stupid people out there We should train all our citizens to handle guns from the time they're young. I believe Switzerland does, and they have little crime, from my meager understanding.

In times of WAR the groundrules may change. I have no problem with that. But if they continue after the war is over, I might have a problem. There is no simple solution. The reason I have no problem or THINK I don't (not sure) is that all information about us is already available. I'd hope it would be a means of culling out the ILLEGALS.
I'll confess, I may be wrong.

A government that doesn't trust it's people is a government that can't be trusted !! I agree with you completely. We just don't trust the "other" people, especially those who are not citizens.
Now, what IS the solution to getting these scumbags out in the public?

"Your papers please..."
JUST SAY NO!

I think for you a tattoo on your wrist is the right option. Maybe your social security number. Without I.D. you will not be able to travel, cash a check, collect welfare or have a credit card. There are too many illegals in this country and this oneway to flush them out.

"They got the guns off the streets." Gee, I wonder how much praise this guy has for Hitler!!
To: Gracey
Gracey, you missed my point. I'm not for interning ANY group!!! I was responding to a poster who thought I might be over-reacting to the statement made by Congressman Dreier concerning this issue because he did not say they were SERIOUSLY considering this option, only that they would not rule it out, because of the situation at hand. ALL options were on the table.
I was pointing out that IF he were asked if the internment of Arab Americans was an option, this would NOT have been his response because it would be WAY too drastic. RIGHT!!! And so are National ID Cards. I would have wanted him to give the same response he WOULD HAVE given if he were asked about interning Arab Americans , which would have been "NO WAY!!!" Get it?
