NO National ID Cards
Russ Braaten

Posted on 09/23/2001 6:24:24 PM PDT by Trollkepr

Fellow Americans,

The President and Congress of the United States is considering a national ID card. This would do nothing to thwart terrorist attacks. At best it would do no more than be a symbolic gesture and create more bureaucracy. At worst, the freedoms so many Americans have died for will be impinged upon.

Please do not let the terrorists take our freedoms. They have taken too much already.

Let our leaders know how you feel. Sign the bottom and forward this other Americans.

President George W. Bush president@whitehouse.com
Vice President Dick Cheney vice.president@whitehouse.com
First Lady Laura Bush first.lady@whitehouse.com

Find your Congressman www.congress.org

Sincerely,

Russ Braaten Oklahoma City, OK USA

I think that National ID Cards would stop Terrorism about as much as Hand Gun Registration has cut down on Crime.

I'm not fan of a national ID card but let's face it folks, the horses left the barn a long time ago. Everybody's got a Social Security number. Everybody's got driver's licenses. Credit card and ATM transactions are tracked on computer and the government can get access to them. Ditto for any phone calls you might make as well.

That said, what DO we need a national ID card for? Seems to me our privacy is already a thing of the past.

I am 100% in favor of a national id card. Maybe it will help slow down the entire Mexican underclass from moving to California.

I AGREE!!!!

Plus, the terrorists will just have fake ones made. Anything that can be made, can be forged!

No national ID card? No job. It would be one of the most effective ways to curtail illegal immigration imaginable.

Sure.

The Democrats would find a way to give them out like lolipops.

They would be meaningless in less than a week - UNLESS OF COURSE YOU FORGET TO HAVE YOURS ON YOU WHEN THEY PULL YOU OVER.

National IDs remind me of a trenchcoat clad KGB agent demanding "papers, let me have your papers"! Not in America! I, for one, won't carry one, period (whatever the cost).

If a national ID can secure our physical safety.

Why the hell stop it.

Better the USA do the tagging than some fanatical muslim clerics.

You need a Social Security card or Green Card/Work Visa NOW to get a job.

But that requirement has not curbed illegal immigration any.

A new "National ID Card" will do nothing.

There is a major difference between being about to look up information about anyone and being required to always be in possession of an ID card which must be shown to any "authorities" that ask for it. The fact that the ORACLE jerk would act like there is no difference when there obviously is a difference shows just what an AGENDA these statists have to QUICKLY STICK US WITH ELEMENTS OF FASCISM that we would refuse under any other circumstances.

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself? If that's true, then WHY would anyone be AFRAID to NOT have National ID cards implemented? The fact is, that the ONLY way they CAN be implemented is if "the masses" agree to them out of fear. And since the agenda is clear to foist them on the masses, you can BET that the ATMOSPHERE of FEAR will be AMPLIFIED by these statists as much as they think necessary in order to implement their plans.

Wo do not need a national ID card. It is also illegal, in that it is not an enumerated power of the constitution.

This push toward a national ID card is perhaps a greater danger to the United States as it ought to be than anything else we are facing right now. If we lose our country from within, how is that any different than losing it to outside forces?

Fight hard against any attempt to force a national identifier upon Americans.

One benefit of a National ID card would be much less voter fraud, which I think would generally work in the favor of conservatives.

I know you meant well, but consider this:

Who is responsible for the 9-11 terrorist attacks, U.S. government intervention or terrorists? Answer: terrorists.

Who is responsible for the loss of liberty if ID cards are mandatory? Answer: politicians and bureaucrats.

The 9-11 terrorists stole some of every American's liberty. No doubt the terrorists would claim they acted to make the world a safer more secure place to live. Now the politicians and bureaucrats want to steal more American's liberty to make it a safer and more secure place to live. Different modus operandi, similar stated cause, same effect -- liberty stolen.

Considering how much the politicians and bureaucrats have trashed the U.S. constitution over the last 150 years, all that burden is suffered by each citizen every day. How much liberty and value is lost each and every day from their crimes against the constitution and we the people? And they're -- politicians/bureaucrats-- the "good" guys!

Really? I don't think I've ever shown an employer one.
