The song is stupid. I would say that if it was written by a conservative. The only reason that it has gained the popularity that it has is that pseudo-intellectual people will latch onto any insipid cliche that will either make them sound intelligent or will fool themselves into thinking they were part of the sixties when they had nothing to do with that crummy decade.
