Last night on O'Reilly, Tom Clancy said,

The political left is real good at painting pictures, they like symbols. Conservative are good at building bridges that people can drive over. And they build them good because if they don't people can die. If people die, liberals are good at building memorials and making people forget they were the cause."

Kinda of paraphrased it since I don't have the tape this instant. But this is exactly what is going on tonight. They have supported the gutting of the military and intelligence services. Now they are putting on a telethon and hoping that people forget they were the cause.
