Will they be of any great assistance to the U.S.? I'm sure we could use their knowledge of Afghanistan.

I would say it's time TO ROLL. That country is ripe for change baby. This may be a lot simpler than we thought...

I would guess we have some forces in there right now (That covert stuff Bush talked about) and I would think there would be some coordination between the two. I don't think they will be fighting side by side.

I hope to hell we are behind these moves and backing the Northern Alliance to the hilt, but I worry that they may have acted on their own before we are in a position to give them as much support as they may need. I remember our encouraging internal resistance to Sadaam in Iraq, and those who answered that encouragement (especially the Kurds in the north)paid a terrible price.

We need to help the NA opposition in some way; if not with personnel, then by clandestine operations. I never thought I would want to cut the CIA loose but the times demand it......

Taliban air power? even if it consists of crop dusters with machine guns attached, we should destroy every thing they have

I saw an article in the British press the other day where one of the leaders of the Northern Alliance said they had offered the US help in going after Taliban, but had yet to hear from us. Hopefully he has by now.

Remember the Russians wanted to control the country. We don't. Heck WE should be able to fight a guerrilla war.

If I recall correctly, part of GW's plan was to turn them against themselves.
Mission accomplished!

Works for me, too. :) The President sent them lots of little hints last night, such as:
"The United States respects the people of Afghanistan -- after all, we are currently its largest source of humanitarian aid -- but we condemn the Taliban regime."
And.... "The Taliban must act and act immediately.
They will hand over the terrorists or they will share in their fate."
