NOW that the President has called us to prayer.....
NOW that Congress has called us to prayer.....
NOW that our Governor has called us to prayer....
NOW that the city Mayor has called us to prayer....
NOW that the media and most other branches of our American society have called us to prayer.....
AND NOW that our churches are assembling in special prayer....
Honorable Justices of the Supreme Court, I have only one question...
Would it be O.K. to pray in our schools?

Not if the prayers are led by school administrators who are being paid by the tax payer. Why not have a "moment of silence"? Then people can do whatever they want. Draw pictures, think of what they want to eat for lunch, pray, or sit in silence.

You are so right. As illustration, the following incident truly happened in a small town in the mid-USA. There was a meeting of a local judge, a couple of school administration personnel, and various local and state officials and personnel on 9-18-01. As the meeting was about to break up, one of the school personnel said, of course we can't pray...and this sentiment was loudly overruled by several in the group, who said Oh yes we CAN! The assembly quickly became a circle, all holding hands, and a prayer to God was sent up for our Nation, our wonderful President, those hurting, those looking...It was emotional and uplifting.
Perhaps things like this are happening all over America. It just takes saying, Oh yes we CAN!

Would it be O.K. to pray in our schools?Right. Let's have forced indoctrination of schoolchildren in religion in the public schools.
ISTR that the Supreme Court has ruled that violates the establishment clause.

Is anyone here suggesting that people would not pray unless the GOVERNMENT called them to prayer?
I've never understood the mentality of people who gain great joy from being called to prayer by an "authority".
