Situation with Turkey and Kurds is bit different though. Kurds have lived on the territory that became Turkish for thousands of years and what they demand - their national and cultural identity at least in some form of autonomy - is justifiably fair. But Turkish constitution is against any national or cultural identity of minorities living there. For your information, 5 million ethnic Georgians were assimilated through last 500 years that lived on the territory that was historically Georgian, and what is now considered as part of Turkey, whereas Chechens did have autonomy in Russia and their successionist demand will never have support anywhere in the world. Well.. my point is that Russia will achieve some support from West for retaliation against Chechens, there is no doubt about that. However Western countries should establish some kind of humanitarian concerns that would prevent excessive involvement of Russians in the Caucasus region and disrespect breach of territorial integrity of Georgia by Russia. In addition, Georgia doesn't have to become host and new source of Chechen conflict. Any demand that Russia makes concerning Chechens in Georgia doesn't have to be directed towards Georgian government that can not controll them. Russia can demand international involvement in Georgian-Chechen issue if it somehow threatens its interests but Russia same time should carry an appropriate burden of proof first. Mere declarations don't do any good.
