"Dinesh D'Souza, a panelist on Monday's show, quibbled with a reference made by President George W. Bush that the suicide bombers were cowards, noting that they gave up their lives for whatever may be their cause.

"These are warriors," D'Souza said, "and we have to realize that the principles of our way of life are in conflict with people in the world."

I did not watch the show, but from what I know of D'Sousa I think that you can still admire him. In talking about the terrorists, he referred to their cause and that our principles are in conflict with others around the world. I believe that he was just stating bare facts and was not in any way approving of or cordoning what happened. The terrorists believe that that they are in a holy war against us. As despicable as their actions are, in their war against us, they are warriers in their minds as the kamikaze pilots were in theirs.

Stating facts about actions should not be confused with support of those actions.

Agreed, if you state ALL the facts. Fact is, these guys believe that as martyrs, they go direct to heaven where they are attended by 72 virgins (along with other enjoyments). Believe the kamakazi pilots had some belief about becoming Gods through their sacrifice. Somehow, I don't think such thoughts occupy the minds of our F-16 pilots...

I didn't finish my thought. I think D'Sousa was telling us that we should be aware of their attitude as warriers and take what happened seriously and not dismiss what they did as a one time thing. They will conduct their warfare as they see fit at whomever and where ever they can and they believe it to be courageous. To ignore or attempt to diminish that attitude will be to our peril.

Make no mistake though about where I stand. The actions of those passengers on Flight 93 demonstrates the true meaning of courage.
