Very Sad, I blame the communist teachers we have who teach these kids to hate America, being American is bad, we must be multicultural and not teach US history, patriotic songs, they teach that the US is oppressive and are imperialists. They don't teach History, Geography, and Civics anymore, Social Studies, to learn how to be socialists!

Kids watch too much MTV, vile, licentious, and vulgar. They think that in order to be a man one must their pants down to their rear end with their underwear exposed. I guess being vile and rude is OK since it's their MOTHERS who buy their clothes and allow them too look like that.

Rap music is ruining the youth of today. Teaches kids to be rebellious, hate and mistreat women, to kill cops, etc.

But these lily-white MOTHERS allow their children to listen to rap music. Bring back the draft and have every little brat who turns 18 serve 2 yrs in the military, no exceptions.

After visiting some of the boards such as CNN, YAHOO, etc. I think it is mandatory to start infiltrating these places with some LOGIC!! This is where these kids are hanging out. We CAN make a difference! I've been participating in these boards and it can get frustrating - I come back to Free Republic for solace - but it is no doubt in my mind that I am influencing people (especially after you get pass the name calling). There are converts. I'm calling this my missionary work: Convert a Liberal (or at least give them enough logic that they HAVE to think)!

I hope this is a isolated incident. I was proud for my generation this weekend as most of the rallies in my town were led by young teenagers.

As I was driving through the center of our town last night there was a group of bikers at the edge of the road waving flags and motorists were honking away! And tonight when I went by, it was a group of high school kids! It was great they were holding flags and candles. Tomorrow night, our town is having a candlelight service at the Town Hall. Our youngest son's Scout Troop will be taking part in it.

I got an e-mail today urging folks to put a candle in a window (like the ones we use at Christmas) to show that God's light cannot be extinguished by hatred and terrorism. I'm going to go ahead and put them in all the windows as if it were Christmas! Let our little lights shine!!

Even Communists defend their homeland. Look at the example of the German attack on the Soviet Union.

Why am I not surprised. After all the only people killed were "evil capitalists" and "evil militarists".

Time to reactivate the Draft.

That will bring the relevance of terrorism into focus for these arogant young fools.

"If there is a war, it won't be a war like we're used to in the past," said Antwonn Smith, 17 "We got too many missiles to use. We're not even going to have to send people out there."

Not only is this kid a moron, but his mother was too damn stupid to even know how to spell "Antoine" when filling out the (welfare?) forms.

You know, as a Libertarian (albeit a conservative one) I'm used to not only permitting, but fighting for people to have whatever outlook they wish on life. I shall continue to do so. But this sort of thing is awfully damn depressing. Some Americans just need to be slapped. Hard.

I disagree completely this is about the WOD one way or the other. If we lose now to the Islamics, we'll be under their rule, I'm not sure how open they are to your weed either. Maybe they will be but Islamic rule isn't something I'd be looking forward to. And don't believe they meant to kill our president, congress, disable the Pentagon, destroy our economy, knock out our transportations hubs for anything less than take-over.

I wonder if these ingrateful punks will change their tune when they see their friends getting burned alive, jumping out of buildings, being blown into pieces

Probably, in addition to filling the ample backside of their oversized trousers.

"My ancestors came over on the Mayflower, fought in the Revolution and the Civil War. Grandpa served in the Navy during the 1st World War. Dad served with the Marines during the 2d World War and was twice wounded. I did 4 years with the Army (11B-1P) (1983-1987) (CCo. 2d BN 504th PIR 82d ABN Div.). I am named after my Grandfathers' Great Uncle who died of wounds received in battle in March of 1863 almost exactly one hundred years before my birth."

What does this have to do with your argument? Rule #1 in regards to debating...only put in information that is relavent to your argument if you wish to in any way, articulate your opinions in a way that other people will understand.

It really truly is a good thing that you didn't say that...ignorance never does sleep does it? I am an Asian-American female and just because I am a minority does not equate to me being a democrat. In fact, the majority of Asians in America vote Republican and I know alot of other minorities that also vote Republican and are often discouraged by veiled references/comments like yours. You should know better than to draw a conclusion like this from an inaccurate and very limited sample taken by an already biased mainstream media.

Regarding post #175. You are right. Those facts have absolutely nothing to do with arguments for and against the WOD.

It was written in response to several people who accused me of being drunk or high or a "liberteen" or a whinger. I think they were "ad hominem" attacks but I'm not sure of the latin used in informal logic. In other words my comments on why some young people might not feel as if the WTC crime has anything to do with them were dismissed with disparagement of my imagined character. I thought of reporting abuse to the sysadmin but concluded that would be kinda wimpy.

nmh wrote: "That's the problem out there - totally self absorbed about nothing to get excited over. Cowardly selfishness is the theme amongst out youth".

I responded, "You would do better with a smaller brush."

nmh wrote: "Nope. A BROAD brush is quite appropriate. OPEN YOUR EYES. Unclog your ears and notice the indoctrination of "Imagine" by John Lennon is their ideal. They want to believe that this will happen all by itself. Look at what universities and colleges teach and the stances they take on issues. You are naieve to think that a "smaller" brush does the job. No sir - A LARGE BRUSH paints the picture properly".

"Cowardly selfishness is the theme amongst out youth".

Sorry buddy, but naive I am not. And there is nothing wrong with my ears and eyes Jim. You must be referring to your own offspring when you mentioned cowards. As my kids and their friends are nothing like what you are describing.

Sure there may be some out there that may be cowards or are selfish, but I can assure you sir that the majority of our young people in our military, and in our nation today are not the cowards you may think they are. And remember pal, that many of those selfish and cowardly youths as you describe are probably heading down the road to war as you sit there and beat your gums.

You know what you can do with your wide brush.

It really bothers me that some people here are proponents of stereotypes and take them as absolute truth. I can personally speak for Asian-Americans because I am one. It really is frustrating to be distrusted and stereotyped by one's own fellow party members, especially when the average person in my race is a very hard worker and instead of sitting around and bitching about how the world is so bad, chooses to make up for whatever frustrations we may have with education. It is too bad that you are equating Asian-Americans, many who are 2nd and 3rd generation people as being the same as those who live over in China or from whatever ancestry their cultural heritage may be from. Put yourself in the other person's shoes for once, you might learn something new.
