I don't reject cause and effect. Cause and effect or logical consequences.The true attitude of the skeptic(like Hume) is : Anything can happen, Nothing has to happen. But as a child of the Enlightenment you do believe in the clockwork god, the god that science has posited, who looks suspiciously like you, somehow standing outside time and space, the god that Einstein dispensed with but struggled to replace.
