Actually our Founders were the first to say govt derives its just powers from the consent
of the governed - not god or god-king.
Wonder what happened to them?
America is doing just fine, thank you. It's the theocracies that are falling away.
Oh, and religion thrives best when separate from govt. Notice religion is almost nothing in Europe (after two millenia of church-state) versus here, where it thrives (after two hundred plus years of separation of church and state.)
