Royal newlyweds glad to be home
Norway's Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit landed at Gardermoen airport on Sunday aboard SAS's first New York-Oslo flight since the terrorist attacks in the USA.
"It's been nice and quiet for us, but of course we also felt shock and disbelief at the tragedy that unfolded while we were in the USA," they told news bureau NTB.
The crown prince and princess were accompanied by Mette-Marit's young son from a previous relationship. The trio was obviously glad to be home again and Crown Princess Mette-Marit took time to wave to journalists and others who had gathered at Gardermoen to catch a glimpse of the returning newlyweds.
Other passengers reported that the captain of the SAS airliner gave clear information about the voyage and the type of disturbance or movement to be expected. It's well known the crown princess has a fear of flying. Her brother Espen Høiby, himself an airline pilot, was on board to offer his sister moral support.
"The voyage went well, but it's good to be home again. Our thoughts have first and foremost been with the victims and their relatives," the couple said before being driven home in the palace limousine to their Oslo apartment.
There were no more words or smiles for the press when the young family arrived at Ullevålsveien a short while later. The crown prince - sporting a trendy new beard, his new wife and her son went straight inside, giving the clear impression what they wanted most was peace and quiet.

BTW, isn't Norway denying NATO/U.S. support in the war on terrorism? Between lousy morals of the people at the top and cowardliness of those in political power, I sure hope we don't rush in to save their rumps from anyone's unwarranted aggression anytime soon. There's appears to be nothing there worth preserving.
