I can hear my co-religionists now, arguing that the Muslims bear no special responsibility for these attacks, that a community of six million law-abiding Americans should not apologize just because a few of them committed a crime.

The Muslims of America do not have to apologize for something they didn't do.

The people who did this will be punished.

Nonetheless, it is disturbing that the Muslim-American community is behaving like any other special-interest racial group in America, with its leadership more concerned about imagined victimhood than in unity with other Americans. The balkanization of this country continues.

Meanwhile, the quiet memorials and ceremonies and church services I've witnessed in America bear no resemblance to the angry shouting that I see among Muslims when even one of their number is killed. And should one of our bombs accidently harm innocents in Afghanistan, you won't see children dancing and laughing in the streets of America in celebration.

There's a difference between the Cross of Christ and the Sword of Mohammed.

I would say the difference is like the deep chasm that separates heaven from hell.

*****We seem to be among the few who have noticed this, and it is disturbing. "Don't stereotype us,etc.etc.". I've seen no genuine grief or anger, just this kind of whining and even from some a tone of warning and lecturing us on how we should be responding to the event and to them. We should have expected this: most have lived here through the Clinton Years, which now look like the Golden Age of Political Correctness, Victimhood, and Special Pleading for Entitlement and Empowerment. Maybe in a few generations they will seem like authentic Americans. For now, the only genuine grief I expect from a "good" Muslim will probably come from one who lost a friend or loved one at WTC.
