GOD DID IT, PART II
Dynamist.com ^

GOD DID IT, PART II: Reader Randall Parker calls my attention to this Worldnet Daily article by Anthony C. LoBaido, which makes Jerry Falwell's offensive theodicy look sophisticated and kind. A small sample:

Is New York the head of the "Great Satan"? All that is evil in the world can be found in New York: MTV, the United Nations, the U.N. abortion programs, the Council on Foreign Relations, New Age Church of St. John the Divine, Wall Street greed, Madison Avenue manipulation and of course more confirmed AIDS cases than the rest of America combined. Let's remember the filthy sodomite gay parade last summer in New York. Let's remember all the New York politicians falling all over themselves to praise this sick spectacle.

And let's not forget that New Yorkers elected—by a landslide—the openly Marxist, treasonous and abortion-mongering, occultic Hillary to a Senate seat. All while fully knowing what she was all about.

So are we all innocent here in New York? Are we innocent with our porno, drugs, filthy Jay Leno monologues, our idolatry, materialism and consumerism? Innocent when Republican Governor George Pataki stands next to the blood-stained dictator of Communist China as he rings the opening bell for the stock market on Wall Street?...

Can the remnant in America help but honestly ask themselves: Is this the fulfillment of Revelation chapters 17 and 18 (Mystery Babylon) or has God raised up Shiite Islam as a sword against America?

These guys should apologize to their fellow Americans, but first they should apologize to God. Since WND chooses to end the piece with a plug for my friend Hugh Hewitt's book, implicating Hugh in the article's sentiment, I've asked Hugh for a response. I hope he will cancel his Worldnet Daily column. Free speech is essential as government policy, but there are some people, as Ramesh Ponnuru puts it in this excellent column, whom civilized people should not let into our houses. Not only LoBaido but the editors who published him should be shunned. [Posted 9/15.]

So why, IYO, should people not drink and drive, or why should we have lifeguards or hospitals for that matter?

What are you ranting about?

Why is it sick?

What?

People here are suggesting that their God smashed innocent little children against the side of a flaming building to "teach America a lesson"

And you ask me why I think that's sick?

Actually, I didn't say a word about Falwell. I was responding to an article by a character named LoBaido (see above).

No, it would seem that this would not be a popular opinion. Too many here seem to think that God is only interested in seeing who gets past the gate of heaven; that Father God is not interested in everything that goes on here on earth. He is, and he is very, very grieved by the murder of babies in the womb, the lack of morality in this country, the pornography, rampant divorce, neglect and abuse of children, etc. God cares VERY MUCH what goes on here, and to think that he is impotent from acting, or from allowing Satan to act, is ridiculous. The outrage expressed here is not because some think God was behind this, but because anyone dares think it is even POSSIBLE that God had anything to do with this. Their God is touch-feely, but impotent, and doesn't act in this world. Mine does. He will use EVERY means available to draw men to himself.

The churches in my neighborhood were overflowing with people today. Should we not ask ourselves, "Is God trying to get our attention?"

Well go ahead and rage then. God's equations balance perfectly in eternity.

Billy Graham, who has spent sixty years preaching from Scripture, said on national television at the Prayer service that he couldn't explain this horrible act.

Thanks sink, you are absolutely right (did I just say that) the Rev. Graham is a great and holy man, I am Catholic, btw. Falwell and Robertson should look in a mirror, they may see the "Revs." Jackson and Sharpton looking back. Media whores the four are. May God have mercy on their souls, all four of those media whores.

What kind of small-minded God would do such a thing?

The same one that kicked Adam out of the garden, that flooded the earth, that rained fire and brimstone down on Sodom, that drown the Egyptain Army, that destroyed Nations, and people..

A sovereign God that as a friend of mine always says "will have Mercy on whom He will have mercy."

Not a "small minded God",a sovereign God

It's hard enough to have to defend our country's honor from all the Blame America First posters on here lately. It's a bit thick to have to defend God from people who think he's a cosmic terrorist.

I salute you. Especially for using the Jean Kirkpatrick line "the blame America First crowd" it's so true..

Why do you think God allowed this to happen?

I'm like Billy Graham.

I don't presume to know the mind of God.

Couldn't find room to mention Falwell's apologised, Vinny?

I guess it's just too much fun to pile on.

I think what you are all missing is that God deals with individuals and God deals with nations. The two are not mutually exclusive, nor is the latter only an Old Testament occurence. IF God does rule (deal with?) the nations, is it not pertinent, to ask....if.....perhaps.....God's judgment had anything to do with this?

Those who are unwilling to ask, will certainly never find the answer.

Your setting up a straw man. Falwell said we lost Gods special protection (NO MIRICLE SAVES) that Gods people are blessed by.

The BLAME lies with the sinful nature of man carried out by evil people on a mission to destroy the power base of the Christian (non Muslem) world.

Why don't you get this?

You're giving examples of Old Testament vs New Testament. Jesus has paid for the judgement of God! The price has already been paid - we don't have to pay it any more.

Every year the Jews had to make a sacrifice for their sins under the Old Testament. After Jesus (in the New Testament), this is not necessary any more. Jesus took His own blood and poured it on the mercy seat of God, ONCE - FOR ALL. God is no longer in the judgment business. He is now in the mercy and grace business.

The only judgement to come will be when you stand before God and have to explain to him what you did with your life as a Christian. The only other judgment will be the White Throne Judgment, when all the heathen (unsaved) get to see what they refused to accept (heaven), and they then receive their final judgment.

..the Los Angeles riots were not caused by the Rodney King verdict.

The Los Angeles riots were caused by rioters...

Timely, very timely.

Can't you just see OWK, Sink, and Steve-b, pulling Falwell out of a truck at an intersection?

Including terrorist murder?

If your God does this (rather than allowing MAN to do it, in which case it is NOT God acting), how do you pray to such a cruel God?
