SPECIAL EDITION

On this National Day of Prayer and Remembrance, President Bush gave one of the most inspiring speeches in our nation's history. In one of the most stirring moments, President Bush said, 'This nation is peaceful, but fierce when stirred to anger. This conflict was begun on the timing and terms of others; it will end in a way and at an hour of our choosing.'

Later in the day, the President visited the destruction in NYC, first flying over the rubble of the World Trade Center, and then witness the rescue and ruins first hand. In his rallying cry to the hundreds of rescue personnel, President Bush spoke to the workers with a megaphone. In the highlight of his speech in NYC, the President had the following exchange with the crowd:

RESCUER: I can hear you!

PRES. BUSH: I can hear you too! (crowd laughs)... And the world can hear you... (crowd cheers) and the people who knocked down these buildings will be hearing from all of us soon! (crowd erupts with chants of USA! USA! USA!)

Fittingly so, on this National Day of Prayer and Remembrance, the nation and the world can take comfort in knowing that we have a man of passion and principle leading the greatest country in the world.

I get so ticked off when I read some FR critics describing the devotees of this nightly thread as "drooling, simpering," etc. WE are so grateful for having a NORMAL President after what was in office before him that so what if we rejoice in having him and his lovely wife to look at nightly? I certainly don't get this feast of pictures from my local newspapers.

The gentle holding of Rudy's head-as the emotional trials of the past few days momentarily slides across the mayor's face at the touch from his President, and the Govenor-seeing this moment and about to touch the President's shoulder in understanding. I have to agree, This man is the most sincere and thoughtful President this country has ever been blessed with.

Photo #56 is SO revealing. The envy in that look of Clinton's is for all the world to see. Not even just envy. Also almost a wistfulness that Bush is all that Clinton, with all his glibness, would never be. Bush has roots, has a loving family, is surrounded by a support system. Clinton has none. He has a wife who barely looked at him all day at the memorial service. He has a wife who disappeared when they exited the cathedral. She was nowhere to be seen outside. Clinton came out with his daughter. In another picture I saw, his daughter Chelsea had that same look of envy on her face when looking at the Bushes. Thank goodness Bush is President during this crisis and not the first dysfunctional family that served for 8 years before. I use the word served loosely.

None taken. Actually, 68-69's repeated post is trivial (in size) compared to some that show up on many threads. To me, most of these represent ego and a "look at me" mentality. From what I have been told on this thread, 68-69's actions are purely sincere. I guess I am just having a bad night, and I used poor judgement in picking the wrong time/person/post to express my disappointment with seeing the same posts over and over again. I guess I am the only one who has a problem with them.

Ya wanna know something? I think that thought went briefly through my mind when I first saw the picture - but Barbara Bush's face just kept drawing me in. What was it that was said during the service this afternoon? Love is stronger than hatred? Not sure I have that quote exactly correct - but it was something like that. How true -- the love in the Bush's face just totally overpowered the look of the other two. I am, however, glad that you did point this out --- makes the look on their faces that much more powerful - and meaningful.

As I drove around today, I was completely overwhelmed by the patriotism I saw and felt.........flags everywhere- on homes, trucks, in windows, in the town square; red, white and blue ribbons, patriotic clothing, shirts, jackets, ties.......it was so moving I wept most of the day.

I work at an elementary school and it was heartwarming to see so many young kids dressed in red, white, and blue today. Feelings of patriotism are surging!

It's a shame that it took something like this to bring people together and feeling love for their country in this manner, but at least there has been this one good thing that has happened as a result of this disaster.

I saw that and was sooooo impressed. At first I thought Fox was playing the Star Spangled Banner over the video. Then realized the video and audio were one. Sure moved up the English a peg or two in my eyes.

We are so fortunate, W is a gift from above.

I looked around my neighborhood tonight, there were flags on every home, waving gently in the breeze.
Candles were displayed on porches or in windows.

It was moving.

I went outside earlier tonight alone, and looked heavenward, gazing at the stars above. And despite everything terrible that has happened this week, all was calm and quiet. We asked for comfort, and the Lord sent his comforter. These terrible tragic events could have destroyed us, but instead we have been strengthened.

I have faith in God and hope for our nation. When I see how we all have rallied to support one another, I am inspired. I can't tell you how much this forum, and all the wonderful Patriots I have met here mean to me.

RE-airing for the 3rd time today on CSPAN II is the memorial service from St. Paul's Cathedral in London......This is quite moving, to see the Brits singing the Star Spangled Banner and the Battle Hymn of the Republic.....

If the Islamic militants hit the core of our society,
making the world in fact pay for their perceptions of our
government then I have an equivalent response.
I wouldn't do it because we are civilized and it would hurt
the souls of innocent people, but think about
