No ones words could stand up to constant examination and soundbite manipulation. At the same time, he should have been more careful at such a sensitive time. His motives were pure, the outcome was not so much. I have seen him treated unfairly again and again so since I didn't hear the 700 Club show myself I am going to take the word of this man I find to be honest and full of good will.
Y'know, in a way I'm out of place on this thread because the stuff he said about Planned Parenthood and ACLU and PAW, etc., while impolitic--not to mention downright dumb--at a time like this are at least open to reaonable debate.
It was the cr*p he and Robertson have been spouting about how "Islam is a threat to all civilization" that riled me up. How DARE these two fundamentalist "Christians"--who'd love NOTHING more than to be able to rule with an iron-fist the way the Taliban do in Afghanistan--try to take that low road?
It was unconscionable, especially at a time when good, honest, law-abiding citizens in this nation of ours, who are of the Islamic faith, are in peril of being terrorized by red-necks and whackos who are no better than the terrorists they excoriate.
