The two ultra-liberals of Boston talk radio, Margery Eagan and Jim Braude, were effusive in praising Bush, and were practically in tears regarding the beauty of the service.
I heard the sung "Our Father," military choir singing "The Battle Hymn of the Republic," and some of the sermons. It was absolutely beautiful.
I missed Bush's speech because I went into a local church to pray. I had to go into the lower church because the upper church prayer service was overflowing. It's a very large church and the people were packed in like sardines. So much so that they were literally falling back through the front doors.
I must confess now that as I heard Denise Graves sing out "America" so beautifully and truly, that my heart lurched at the words: "and crown thy good with brotherhood," for those are the very words that stirred my heart and soul for God and my nation when I was just a child. With that childlike belief, hope, pride and love, I say to all Americans whose pledge is true to our country, regardless of your race, religion, politics or background, you are my brothers and sisters and may God strengthen and protect us. Grant the victory of Love over hate to each of our souls. Amen.
